Specifically Glasgow. If I get some free time, I’ll probably rent a tiny car for a few days and putter about. I helped a coworker of mine a couple months ago with his Glasgow rental and he ended up with an A45 AMG. I won’t be that lucky, he makes about 5x more than I do. #MyCompanyHasAPayGap
Regardless, what kind of UK car stuff do you want to know?
Photo is of a Nissan Figaro that I saw the last time I was there. Cute cars. They’re also old enough to import to the US now (produced in 1991). Hmmmmmmmmmmm!

All of the British stuff. Like Land Rovers and Jaguars and MGs and stuff of that sort. Plus LEVORG

You know, I don’t see a lot of British stuff there. In comparison to California, I’d say it’s about equal. There’s a lot of German and French cars. So many VWs, BMWs, Audis, and Peugeots. Of course, there’s plenty of forbidden fruit - if you could call it that. 1 Series hatch, A1, RCZs, etc. Unfortunately they mostly have low rate diesels.

Hmm, that’s quite strange. The Levorg would still be neat to see but I’m not sure how common Subaru is in Europe.

I’ll keep my eye out. I don’t see a ton of Subarus in Glasgow.

Jinxish - I didn’t see the Figaro when I posted the Be-1. I love the Pike cars!

Not very, they were probably bigger 10 years ago when the Impreza was still around. You’ll see more out in the country.

Out of curiosity, how much is your rental budget? It’s not like I’m gonna suggest you take advantage of the UK’s infamously broken used car market and say you should buy an old Jag. No that would be silly...

Haha. Given that I haven’t had an update in my salary in 3.5 years and still make “seed stage” startup money, let’s just say that I don’t really want to spend more than I have to. I would do $150/day for something high performance but not more than 3 days.

Fair enough. I thought it was for the full length of the trip. That said I’m not sure what you could get for £100 odd a day. That said...

I guess the answer is always Miata...
I’m curious how much it would be to make road legal to drive.
EDIT: Seems a bit annoying. That said, if I was going to move there, I’d have no problem having a beater Miata.

BTW - what app is that?

Auto trader.
All you need is insurance (temp insurance at that). Plus Yankee licences are valid for 12 months in the UK. Plus plus that particular car like the vast majority of cars for sale would already be taxed and MOTed. The real hassle would be getting rid of it afterwards.
